In a display of unity and respect, the local community gathered on Memorial Day at Veterans Memorial Park of Jackson County for a special Wreath Laying Ceremony. The event was a tribute to in remembrance of our fallen military heroes and a show of support for our Gold Star Families.

Over a hundred attendees, including members of VFW Post 6073 and American Legion Post 30, came together to lay wreaths by the Honor Wall to honor the memory of those who died in the service of our Country. Mr. and Mrs. Foshee, the parents of SGT Jeremy Foshee who died in 2002 in the War on Terrorism, were in attendance. We were also privileged to have Lieutenant General Robert A. Rasch Jr. join us for this event. Later, the community gathered at the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Collins School where LTG Rasch spoke about our unwavering commitment to surviving families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

American Legion Jr Vice Commander, George Seymour, shared his thoughts about the event saying he felt participating in the Memorial Day Ceremonies was a tremendous honor. Seymour said, “The emotion felt during the event is beyond words and working alongside our community to honor those who served is such a blessing.”

The Commanders of American Legion Post 30 and VFW Post 6073 thank the veterans and auxiliaries for their work to put on in support of this event, and all who attended to honor our fallen military brothers and sisters.
